Hwoarang is first introduced in Tekken 3 as a Korean fighting character whose expertise is Tae Kwon Do. He used to gamble in street fighting. His fellow gang members would lose matches, then Hwoarang would step in and win. In one of those fights, he faced Jin Kazama and the match ended in a draw. Because of this, Hwoarang decided to train harder so that he'd never lose again.
Unfortunately, when he visited the dojang, he was frustrated when he found out that it had been destroyed by the Ogre. This drove him to enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 to get revenge for the death of his master and to fight a conclusive battle with Jin.
Here are some facts about Hwoarang:
- Hwoarang finally defeats Jin in Tekken 6, but is defeated by Jin's "devil form."
- His famous moves are his Left and Right Flamingo stances
- The original motion capture actor who plays Hwoarang in Tekken 3 is Su-Il Hwang of the 'Japan International Taekwon-Do Federation' (Japan ITF)
